A superb natural reserve, South Stradbroke Island offers calm inner waterways on one side, virtually untouched native bushland in the centre, and on the other side, 22 kilometres of pristine surf beach with hardly a soul in sight. You can catch glimpses of the majestic humpback whales migrating north to breed during whale watching season, from June to October. Please note as the campgrounds are located in a Conservation Park, dogs are not permitted on the island.
Tipplers Campground is located to the north of the island, whilst North and South Currigee are towards the southern end.
Camping accommodation is limited to tents only. Since access to the island is exclusively by boat, vehicles or caravans are unfortunately not permitted. Facilities vary across the three campgrounds. Please ring or visit their website for more information.
